Position Summary

We seek an outstanding and highly motivated tumor immunologist to lead Clade’s efforts to develop sophisticated in vitro tumor models that test anti-tumor activity of engineered T cells. The role will require an in depth understanding of state-of-the-art tumor models used for preclinical assessments of immune cell therapies. It expected that the individual will understand the relationship between T cell immunophenotypes and anti-tumor activity and have experience designing cell-based assays to test for clinically relevant T cell activity.  The role will involve building a team that will work in close collaboration with other teams in the organization. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of scientific accomplishment / leadership and be excited to build an outstanding scientific culture that will lead to truly innovative cell therapies. As the company grows, this person will have ample opportunity to play key roles in the development of our T cell programs. The individual will collaborate with other scientific leaders who have a patient-focused determination to develop a new wave of cell therapies.

Responsibilities

  • Hire and lead a team focused on developing robust assays to quantify anti-tumor function of engineered T cells
  • Mentor a group of exceptional researchers who routinely execute assays with a high degree of reproducibility
  • Generate novel cell-based assays to provide preclinical validation for Clade’s engineered T cells
  • Establish advanced assay systems that are tailored to our disease indications and can properly model the tumor biology in order to accurately measure the anti-tumor activity of our cell therapies. 
  • Plan and execute workplans to achieve critical program milestones in a timely fashion
  • Rapidly analyze complex data sets and communicate scientific findings to key stakeholders.
  • Proactively recognize and solve technical and scientific issues to assure high quality data from internal and external resources.
  • Foster a supportive and collaborative work environment

Qualifications

  • PhD in Biology or related field with 3+ years of postgraduate or industry experience; prior industry experience highly desired
  • Deep knowledge of T cell biology, particularly with respect to T cell activation, signaling, and exhaustion
  • Strong understanding of cell, molecular, and immunological assays to assess the phenotype and function of T-cells
  • Experience designing chimeric antigen receptors and other targeting methods desired
  • Capabilities related to sequencing of TCRs and peptide/MHC interactions a plus
  • Experience with gene editing technologies an advantage
  • Highly organized and scientifically rigorous with significant attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, train, develop and mentor junior lab members highly desired.
  • Track record of working with a sense of urgency and determination in a team environment.
  • Documented track record of scientific creativity/innovation such as publications and patents
